About Us
Greetings! Thanks for taking the time to visit the website. Let me tell you a little about myself and my vision.
My name is Nubia Earth Bowman and I am the proud mother of four children; a daughter and three sons. While pregnant with our third child, my husband and I decided we wanted a home birth experience with a midwife, easy enough right? Well, our search for a midwife whose beliefs and philosophies mirrored our own took us on a journey from Yonkers, New York to Teaneck, New Jersey!
Throughout my pregnancy I was amazed (and disappointed) at the lack of resources available in my immediate area. It was in my 6th month of pregnancy that I decided to take a course to become a Child Birth Educator. I was enlightened by all of the information I attained and decided that I wanted to make childbirth education a top priority for expectant women and their partners. Knowledge is power and because pregnancy is such a wonderful time of celebration we should be able to have the facts we need to truly embrace the entire experience.
It is my goal to make childbirth education as important as prenatal care and as natural as nature.
Thus, Birth from The Earth was born!
I have worked hard on creating informative, engaging and interactive child birth education classes because I believe, when you know your body, you know your choices and you have a voice!
In the Spring of 2009 I completed a course to become a Certified Birth Doula! In addition to offering childbirth classes I am qualified to attend to you during the last weeks of your pregnancy, during your labor and delivery and immediately postpartum.
As of May 2011 I am now Certified as a Postpartum Doula, available to help out in your home in the first few weeks after your baby is born.

News!
I am excited to share with you that my journey in the childbirth world has led me onto yet another continous path. Following my passion, I have decided to pursue becomming a midwife, with a main focus on natural childbirth, holistic healing, herbal remedies and homebirth. At the present time I am working to complete my Bachelors Degree at The College of New Rochelle, and I plan to attend the Midiwfery Program at SUNY Downstate once I complete my undergraduate degree. In addition I am aquiring an abundance of information through self-study and gaining hands-on experience through the clients that I serve as a childbirth educator and birth doula. Eventually I hope to apprentice with a senior midwife as well, because I feel the wisdom that is passed on via experience and word of mouth is extremely sacred and vital.
I would love to use this space to share my progress along the way!
New Position
As of June, 2010 I am working with my local WIC office in Yonkers, NY as a Breastfeeding Counselor. I love sharing the gift of information on breastfeeding and the many benefits for Mother and Baby with new moms and their families.
Herbs & Childbearing:
I am often asked the question; "What herbs can I take to increase fertility naturally?", and, as this is not my area of expertise, I often refer them to specialists and/or midwives I know. The more I thought about it (and the more often people ask me this question), I realized that this is information and knowledge I need to acquire. So, over the summer of 2010 I took two courses; Introduction to Herbs and Herbs for the Childbearing Year. I learned SO much from these classes that I am excited to share with you; from Natural Fertility and Family Planning, to natural alternatives to basic newborn baby care and procedures!
